XP refuses to update

Last few weeks I'm getting messages that there are updates available. Normally nothing wrong but they don't get installed.

If I try to update manually thru the update page I'm getting the message that the updates are not installed.

I have lowered security, closed my firewall etc. but nothing helpes. Any suggestion appreciated

I have that happen on a driver update for realtek NIC. It always says that there is an update available. It downloads but wont install. Don't know why though.
