You guys do things so complicated. I'm a newb when it comes to this, but I got it werkin again. I actually came across the solution by accident, but basically what you have to do is just delete the ntoskrnl.exe through windows recovery thing on the windows cd, and then it'll start up fine. Also, for those of you who didnt back up the old ntoskrnl.exe (stupid ), make sure you always have a backup before you replace it! I had one but I had it in my documents, and the recovery wouldnt let me get into the documents and settings folder. Now I have a backup in a folder in system32.
Edit - Also, when you get into windows, it should say there's a file missing (it might be when you open the windows folder, i dunno, but i had just got in and was in windows folder when it popped up) and it'll get it off the windows cd. You can also get the sp1 ntoskrnl from where the other guy said: C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\ntoskrnl.exe
Of course you can just go into recovery and type this:
COPY C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386\ntoskrnl.exe C:\Windows\System32
