xp pro freezing up when playing sounds

I just put in my old sound blaster pci 512. I was tired of using onboard sound. Now when i'm playing any kind of sounds or even if im not, my pc freezes up. i have to hit the reset button to get it to work. please let me know what other info u need to help me with this situation. thanks

When it freezes, does it have kind of a "screeching" sound loop?

yes. when playing sounds, it will sound like its stuck.

Have u try the new drivers. I found this drivers on this link work good. Give it a try.
