xp page file

i recently tryed changing my page file to be 768mb(1 and a half of 512) megs from what xp set it to as 1251mb. i restarted, and it still 1251. i'm using coolmon, and it hasn't changed at all.... did i do something wrong, when i go into the advanced settings, typed in 768, hit chage or whatever, and hit ok, restarted, and nothing apears to have changed. that tab says it has changed, but coolmon still shows it being huge. any ideas?

Once you have set your new value you have to hit the "set" button to the right of the field where you just made the change(see attached). Once this is done reboot. Also since you have 512 megs of ram, unless you are using photo editing programs you should set both values for the custom pagefile size to 300 - that should be plenty.
