Xp On Laptop Problem !

Recently i bought aliens vs. predator, and realized a big ass problem, the damn thing was accelerating at 4 FRAMES PER DAMN MINUTE !!!!!!!!!!

after some ritualistic cursing and biting myself in the forearm to maintain sanity..... i realized that while in game, my settings would change to 16-bit and not stay at 32 bit, this was a huge prob, so i put it in compatability mode with 98 and downloaded a patch and now it works smoothly, then i did some other things with the advanced display settings and WHAMO, its now running ultra smooth-like

But now the problem is, after a while, the game and my entire system would just SHUT OFF !!! like after i pass a mission

same problem with hitman.................... and sometimes rollercoaster tycoon....................and other games of the like........
and well, its really frustrating

its not my power settings, or toshiba's power settings............
this only happens while playing games

anyone, HELP !!!!!!! >_<

F.Y.I its a toshiba 1800 995 MHZ 240 mb ram and a dvd drive

Does that have a 3D Accelerated video chip? Usually only high end laptops have 3D Accelerated chips, like the ATI Mobility Radeons or nVidia GF2Go/GF4Go chips. Do you know what sort of video chip th laptop has?

JJB

Trident video accelerator cyberblade xp ai 1
16 mb memory, thats all i got that i can think of putting down, tell me where to look and ill tell ya, its all stock so i wouldnt know

Trident Cyber Aladdin-T with 16MB UMA VRAM

to be exact ....................

Yea, thats just a plain video chip and does not have 3D Acceleration. It will not run 3D Games very well

JJB

well, it does run it, extremely fluidly btw, without a hassle or any slow down really

BUT, it shuts off...................my guess would be overheating, i mean its just a sudden shutoff, like its loading the second level and WHAM, black screen........

thats all i can think of is overheating, any solutions ?!?!?!

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
