XP Install

I'm going to have to re-install XP Pro over my current installation of XP Pro. Will this process overwrite all of my files and stuff?

Don't really fancy backing up 40GB worth of stuff :(

If you do a clean install you will lose all your data on the drive, so make sure you backup.

If you do an "upgrade" install, only Windows files will be replaced. All your data and your software will remain intact.

If you're having major problems with your current installation of XP, I would recommend doing a clean install.

G'luck :)

Try a repair install first. Boot to the XP CD and select the second repair option (about 4 screens in). The first repair option will drop you at the Recovery Console, which won't do you any good. But if you take the second repair option it will allow XP to install on top of itself without changing many registry settings. You will not need to reinsall your apps.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
