XP Install Hanging on reboot

a workmate of mine has a strange problem installing WinXP
the install goes fine untill the first reboot when the computer just hangs . He has a duron 700 on a msi Mobo with a creative Geforce MX.
Anybody got any ideas?

The only thing I can think, don't know if it will work or not, is to do a custom install & load the bear minimum & see what happens. If it works then add the other stuff slowly to see where the problem is.
