XP hates my SB Live 5.1

Ok guys I just upgraded to XP pro from 2k pro....Now my damn Mic wont work right.... grrrr SOunblaster live 5.1 X-Gamer, asus k7m mb (yeah a slot a :D )b Hercules prophet DDR/DVI, 500 mhz "classic athlon" @ 550. Mic sounds like im 200 miles away talking through a paper towel tube???? HELP PLEASE!!!
 
Have you made sure you have all the newest drivers for your soundboard, and have you tried changing the microphone gain and quality settings in your control panel under sounds/audio devices then going to the voice tab?
 
I have all the newest drivers, i have swapped it around from pci slot to pci slot, and I have tried the control panel stuff....
