XP Firewall Log Reader (Very Cool)

Future Updates

Future updates will include DNS name translation instead of IPs only. I have also thought of maybe adding a database backend for logging historic data (traffic). This would enable you to quickly see how many times a particular IP attempted to access your system, etc. . . .

I will let you know when to anticipate the next version.

Any suggestions will be taken into consideration.

Thanks
mcbweb

Cool.
Few basic options in it would be nice like,
Minimize, Maxmize, Resize, Stay On Top
Sort Order by clicking on the column headers.
Refresh or some sort of real time monitoring so it keeps updated on each new connection attempt,
Archive logs either by day, week or maybe month.

very nice prog mcbweb... will look foward to future creations:cool:

make sure u come back here n tell as asap when it's updated.. coz i like it :p actually.. now i actually turn the firewall on so i could use it :p
only dumb this is irc takes a little longer to start ... coz it doesn't send ident.. bt that's all good

You can set your log file to any drive you would like. Attached is a image displaying this ability.

Simply go into your TCP configurations and adjust the output file to the destination of your choice.

Hope this helps

Nice to see another release, 3 and 4 are nice additions! :)

nice one!

nice one!
shame i have to use a NIC for my cable modem cos these ntl modems are crap via usb! so doesnt really work for me as cant get this to come up
http://www.ntfs.org/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=262054

:(
shame really i was looking forward to using it!

hmm some other ideas maybe........

right click additions.......

-ability to control listings in log similar to the event viewer...ex. clear all(ability to clear from a date specified would also be sweet), refresh, export list(say a text file),properties (link to security logging tab of advanced setting window to change settings (size, log placement, logging on and off), the check present tcp connection can be moved here, also a help file and an about window for your name and version(be proud)......

with right click stuff would be just like MS themselves made it and improve on a very decent app as it is.........;) :D :D

If you use a cable modem you should be able to access the settings page to enable / change logging directory.

Right click My Network Places--> Right click Local Area Connection--> Select Advanced tab--> Check ICF--> Select Settings--> Select Security Logging Tab--> Check Log Successful connections--> CHANGE LOG FILE DIRECTORY TO D: OR C: OR Z: OR F: what ever

i appreciate your reply mcbweb!
ive followed all your instructions but still cant proceed beyond settings on my LAN! (im share on network but my pc is directly connected to the modem via NIC) i just get a message flashing saying 'please wait' and nothing becomes of it!
must be my NIC! i bought it off one of my mates for £5 :D !
thanks for the help mind!

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
