should we use Windows XP's newer drivers for hardware, or go back (6 months being the farthest for me personally) and get the specific hardware driver from the manufacturers website??

my exact situation is my Sony CD-RW CRX100E has drivers signed by Windows XP (7/1/01), but then there are drivers from (3/02/00) the original manufacturer, which do i choose? and what should i do about my other hardware drivers? should i just let XP run the way it wants?

Use the ones that work OK on your system. If you load new drivers & something goes haywire just do a rollback.

I would stay with XP's drivers, especially since in this case they appear to be newer. People get a little driver happy sometimes. Is everything working right? Many times newer driver versions are fixes for things that may not apply to your system. But in this case let XP do it's thing.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
