Re: User Accounts

Just had to reinstall windows coz OO defrag busted my system files after it decided to do an offline defrag.

My problem is that Windows keeps loading into Administrator account rather than my own account I want it to log into.
Can anyone tell me how I can stop this from happening coz I've read somewhere that the Admin account should not be the default log on account.

Re: User Accounts

Sounds like you have autologin setup.

Click Start, Run - type "control userpasswords2" (no quotes) and hit enter.

I don't have it infront of me, but I believe there is a checkbox to check stating that users MUST enter a username and password to use this PC. I believe, and again by memory, if it's NOT checked, it will autologin.

ok, will try that. Thanks

Edit: should I just remove the Admin account from the list so that my own account has auto login?

Re: User Accounts

Ack, sorry for the half arsed explanation, the phone rang while in the middle of me typing my post.

Here is a screenie:

That is the box you want to ensure is checked, and the problem should go away, giving you the option to login as you see fit.

Re: User Accounts

ahh.. I don't want to be forced to enter PW. :p
Can I just press REMOVE on the Administrator?

Re: User Accounts

Well if you check the box, and then uncheck it, it will have you type the username and password of the person who will autologin. Type in your name such as ming/password and it will log your account in instead of Administrator.

EDIT: Best to check the box, hit Apply and then OK. Re-visit the dialog box, check the box and then make changes.

Any of the SP crew still out there?
