which is better?

I know the x1900 costs about $150 more....

Depends on which 1900 you are looking at.

The actual comparison would be 1800xt v/s 7900gt. The xt has more memory and is a little bit better value but is otherwise a toss-up.

For the 7900gt v/s the 1900xt, I would go with the xt because it is a little more future ready and has better performance.

The 7900gt 512mb version is a good card to consider as well.

thanks Sazar, now i'm more confused than ever :)

So say i had two cards, one was the 7900gt the other was the x1900 basic config. and i was going to give you one, which one would you take?

If it was the vanilla 1900, I would take the 7900gt.

Im seriously confused here, i could have sworn the x1900XT well out performed the 7900 GT?

someone plays BF2 wayyyyyyy to much :)

It would outperform it in most situations, yes.

If it was a vanilla 1900 (for example, take the 1900 All in wonder gpu), then it would be out-performed in many situations or be on par.

Thats what I was referring to when I said vanilla 1900.

is there a considerable difference between the 7900gt and the x1900xt?

Depends. For most things, perhaps not. The much higher number of shader units means the 1900xt will perform better in newer and more shader intensive games such as FEAR and oblivion. All benchmarks support this.

Whether this means much to you, you have to decide. The 7900gt is at a really good price-point

I have the X1900 and I love it. The NVIDIA 7900 squeaks by on benchmarks but as Saz said the X1900 series is "more future ready" and offers better graphics.

IM kind of at this situation as well.
However i think ill go with teh 7900gt...
unless the xt1900 is similar in price.
Is it really 150 more?

Yeh, as a student i have way too much time on my hands. I just ordered a 7900 GT it was £199.99 compared to £280 for the cheapest X1900XT.

scott that is a scary pic, please remove haha.

I think i'll get the 7900gt now and then hopefully within 3 months nvidia will release someone new and when they do i'll just set up with evga's plan.

p.s. evga have the best cards out right now for nvidia, look at the KO edition, the sig edition is also sick, but then you may as well just buy a x1900xt for that price.

hey guys i wanna buy a new graphic card so which 1 do u think its best 4 games

I'm not sure,
Im getting the 7900gt, either ko or co...
Its supposed to be pretty good.

Remember, it also depends on the games you play as to which card is the better choice for you.
I would go with the 7900GT

i'm not sure i'm even going to upgrade now, just bought and old 9800pro and i can play oblivion on high settings without AA, so why would i need to get anything else right now.

Also i do need a new case....

I happen to be stuck in the postion of having a 7800GTX and nowhere selling off stock cheap to poke aroound with SLI:(

Decidided to save up for a HDTV and then look at pc upgrades :p

lol
Thats pretty funny,
The 7800gtx is certainly nothing to be sad about.
not to mention u could probably sell it to get the 7900gt...

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
