In Word 97, I've created an index of documents that I'm using for my course. Some of them are word documents and others are pdf files. Now, I can create links to the word documents and click on them to open that file. What I would like to know is: is there anyway to link to a pdf file and have it open in Acrobat from Word?

I would think you will be able to do it by creating the link to the programme, giving the file name as the parameter.

There are utilities that you can purchase that can do this or you can write a VBA script that will open the PDF file using the native viewer if you have associated the PDF file type with the application however to view a PDF document as it looks exactly translated to a word document is as far as I am aware not possible without a third party utility (and they are expensive).

PDF files are usually large in size for the information they contain but give the creators of this format, huge amounts of flexibility in such items as security and a whole host of other attributes. GOV sites are bloated with PDF files which download sometimes a single page with a picture that’s 5Mb , one reason why I avoid them. Even computer manuals use this format why? I don’t know. To me they are a throwback to the past.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
