With Nero, should I make any changes in XP?

If I am going to use the latest Nero to do all my burnin (I've always used XP's built in until now), Should I disable XP's built in support? Or should I just install Nero and use it, making no changes to any configurations in XP?

No changes are needed in XP. You've made a good choice going to Nero instead of using XP's burning feature.

Actually that's not true...
Under services(services.msc) you will need to disable IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service for Nero to function at it's greatest potential :)

Didn't notice any difference whether I disabled Imapi CD-Burning COM Service or not. Nero just runs fine.

same here.. I left it be and I burn just fine with Nero..

Well according to Nero it helps ;) Besides if you're not going to use the service, what's the point in running it?

in my case, disabling the freaking dumb thing fixed Nero and now
I can burn again!

dude, that feature works fine

and if you dload the cdcopy utility that allows you to copy cds directly in "My Computer" from tweakxp.org, then your flyin.

ditto. i've used nero forever and never disabled any windows related burning software. nero works perfectly.:)

I run Alcohol 120% and CloneCD without ever disabling the burning service. UT II and UT2003 have been "backed-up" for future reference to boot!:D

Hmmm, I didn't have much luck with it. I think I made a couple coasters by trying to use that feature. Nero is the best IMHO. :)

Yep

I disabled the service as it was recommended at www.blackviper.com in the XP services configurations. This was only to save on my memory resources but I bet it does help if you disable it so program's can run flawlessly without any disturbances in resources.

:p

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
