wired network problem

i've setup a wired network between 2 pc's, with internet sharring on a dial up. However when i'm using the main pc (with the second one turned off) to connect to the net internet explorer takes ages to open up does anybody know why this may be

It may be trying to communicate with the other PC. What did you use to connect the two computers?
