WinXP vs. win98

hey guys im now on win98.. i like playing online games
and my pings on one fast server on win98 where great.. like 40
and on winxp same server same game where 300-400
i dunno why.. I tried two more games.. same thing
why? i hate win98 and i want only winXP and fix that prob//
any ideas how ?

This is probably because of Windows XP Quality of Service. This embedded software is used to maximize data transfer and minimize bandwidth consumption. Instead of measuring ping times, why not play a game on both and see which one is faster and better.

It could also be driver related if you connect through something other than your NIC (say USB, serial modem and so on).
