WinXP I386 folder

Remember in win98 you could copy the win98 folder to your hard drive so windows didn't require you to insert the win98 CD when it was needed - and that of all the junk that was in the folder all you had to copy was the .cab files. I was wondering what in the winXp I386 folder is essential to be copied to the HD. At present I've copied the entire file, but if only key files are needed I would rather just have those. Or for that matter if I wanted to do a similar thing as in win98 want do I need to place on the HD? - just the I386 folder, parts of theat folder only or other things altogether. Thnaks in advance for any help with this.

you can just place the entire I386 folder on your HD then use a program like tweakXP and it will change the reg key needed so that when a program needs the XP cd it automatically goes to your HD first.

Good question, Sage. Especially as XP's instalation takes a fair chunk of space in itself, it'd be good to know just what's absolutely essential.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
