Windows XP SP1 Will Not Install on Known Pirated Installations

In an email sent to OEM system builders MS tells:

When released, Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Windows XP will not install if it identifies the underlying Windows XP installation as a known pirated installation. SP1 identifies known pirated installations by their Product IDs. The Product ID is generated from the Product Key used during install and can be found by choosing My Computer, then Properties, and viewing the General tab.

more info here

But it will work on pirate XPs with valid generated keys.

Well the story itself is news worthy since its on the front page of the site.

I agree the news story is worthy, however, statements that it will work on pirated XPs with valid generated keys, is not. Thats warez, and illegal, hence my warning statement.

Ok thanks for clearing that little bit confusion I had Iceman

Haven't we been through this enough already? Oh well there be more to come when sp1 gets released officially.

those valid CD keys force activation though...which eliminates the point for using an illegal corporate key.

do not

all Corporate Editions of XP do not require activation, thats what sets them apart from XP Professional.

corporate keys are not as hard to find as you may think.

And we DON'T want to find them either.

You guys got it wrong, you do not FIND corporate keys you generate corporate keys. thats real different, and just admit microsoft has been defeated by pirates ever since windows 1.0.

You can FIND corporate keys if you are too lazy to generate your own

O.k I'l just say... it works, it doesent require activation....

This thread has been warned serveral time to stop the key gen and warez talk. It is now closed.
