Windows XP Pro

I have a little problem with Win XP Pro.... I d/l'ed WMP 9 from here the other day to try it out.... After I did so, I went to check up on some updates from Microsofts official website, and where usually I could d/l Windows updates the option has been greyed out.... Now when I start up my pc I see a little message in the bottom right corner that says "For testing purposes", it says other stuff but it pops up to fast to read all of it..... Anybody have any idea what the hell is going on?

at the moment wmp9 is beta software. it is for testing purposes only.

WELL, when I read all the bugs in this beta, I never even downloaded it...have you tried an uninstall to see if that helps you?...if it doesn't then go to one of your registry backups, or system restore points
