Has anyone used a boot screen under SP1? I had problems with it (system would not recover). Tell me how you all did it.

I have not tried one since sp1. Boot screen = black screen at startup with moving bar going back & forth.

As far as I can ascertain overriding this screen requires a hack to the XP kernel as it’s loaded in a different mode to any graphics objects. There must be a way of doing it, but I don’t think it’s a good idea for even the experienced user. You can re-compile or send instructions to the XP kernel during boot-up but one simple mistake and it’s dead forever.

U can do it with a proggie called bootxp

you can get it at http://www.bootxp.net/ and it works with sp1

You can also do it with the latest verstion of Boot Editor. You can get this one here.

I have, make sure you have the latest version and it works fine

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
