Windows Update

can anyone help me, when i go on windows update i pick all the downloads and click on install and i click agree but after that it just stops when its downloading, the bars haven't even started and it doesn't show a %, it doesn't do anything after that and i have to exit, can anyone help me????? how can i get windows update to work???

i'm running windows XP pro SP1. thanks

Here's a couple of things to try>
Windows Update - Error

If you cannot update XP check your c:\windows\windows update.log. If you have this error: Error 0x800C0008 then go to Tools\internet options\languages. You must have one language selected. Boom windows update works again!

Or for LAN settings

Go to control panel, open up Internet Options\Connections. Click on the Lan Settings button at the bottom right of the window. Untick Automatically detect settings.

Is there a way you can set Windows to automatically download all updates and install them queitly under a normal user logon with no admin rights? im sick of having to log out and log into every machine to install updates
