when trying to go on windows up it, i click scan for updates and it just says no available updates when their is and i don't even have sp1, how can i fix this?

Download SP1 directly from the SP1 section of microsoft.com.

thanx, is this the home PC installation or that network 1?

thats the network one - makes no difference really

except with the network installation you can make a bootable XP SP1 slipstreamed disk
its fairly simple to do just follow these instruction

then do a repair install to apply SP1:
Boot from the CD
Enter - for setup
F8 - I agree
R - repair install

this will leave all your programs & shortcuts intact

it cleanest way to instsall SP1
