Windows Update for Win98

I have a client who has a work laptop that will not allow her to get windows updates from the website. when on IE, it says that windows cannot update this computer due to restrictions on the PC. so im guessing when they built the image they restricted this access to updating it. its abour 4years old and u can put anything else on it program wise and is not hooked up to a network believe it or not. if anyone can tell me how to be able to get updates for the win98 i would appreciate it. im guessing its a registry hack somewhere but i have no idea where to start.

thanks bruno, i appreciate the help and your tip worked well although i couldn't do an office update because i don't have the original CD used for the image they rolled out on the computer. i do have a windows 2000 office CD but im not sure if the CD-Keys are the same and if it would work and i didnt wanna mess it up.
