Windows Tech problem involving hard drive detection

Ok here is my situation, I have 2 hard drives that are external that I connect thru my firewire port.
Recently both drives are not detected anymore by windows. My guess is my fire wire connection when I go to network properties does not show any IP etc information on it. When I click repair it says TCP/IP is not enabled for this connection.
I also have norton system works / internet security along with System Mechanic 6.0 installed.
Could any of this be the problem? What can I do to help resolve this situation?
took out the Maxtor Drive I use and put only the other external firewire hard drive and it works and is detected.
When I plug the maxtor in it just blinks with the green light over and over instead of staying on, and the red light never comes on. I think I need the drivers for it again maybe for it to be detected but I can't find them on maxtor's website.

Below is a link to the maxtor hard drive I own.

It just keeps blinking green and before it stoped working it say DELAY WRITE ERROR

Thank You,

I am having the same problem with my maxtor and the retrospect software with is. i can't back up anymore, and it is strange as it used to work. i have tried reinstalling but with no success... kind of sketchy... if anyone knows how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated.

What maxtor drive do you have?

Mine just keep blinking green over and over and wont be detected. I can't find my install disc for it and online they don't got the drivers. Customer service told me to use the 5000 series drivers but they don't work. Im tempted to open the case up and pray I can install the hard drive thru ide cables and recover all the information that was on those drives.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
