i have an ASUS P4S533...
i'm using Windows XP Pro...

The BIOS has settings for standby and powering down hard drives...

As you know so does Windows...

So my question is: Which takes precedence? should i set both the bios settings and windows settings equal? or just use windows settings? or just use bios settings? I'm also having stupid performance problems after coming out of standby... could this be related to the bios settings conflicting with windows, or related to RAM????

Neither. System Standby and / or Hibernation use resources unnecessarily, are hard on the system, and may result in instability.

It is preferable to just set your hd & display to power down after a predefined period of inactivity.

Really???

Any input on how much more power is used by only powering down HDs instead of going into standby????

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
