windows sp1 troubles

for some weird reason, whenever i try to download and install windows xp sp1 it dosn't install. it just downloads it and then i see like 3 screens. the last one being something about archiving. and then the installation process just closes. is there any way that i can get past this and make it install?

Hmmm, odd. Try telling it to NOT back up your current config. I assume you're smart enough to make sure you have enough free space on the drive to install it and to have nothing running...

it's still happening. all the programs except ie is closed. it closes after like 15 seconds.
