Windows Media Player 9 Error 800401F9

If I try to play anything in WMP9, I get an error message: "Error in the DLL"

The dialog box that gives me the error message has two options: Close, or Web Help. I click on Web Help and this page.

Anyone know how I can fix this problem? Its really annoying because I can't play .wmv files at all!

How bout copying the wmp dll's from another computer?

Hmm...a system file integrity check might help, although I'm not certain. You will need your XP CD for this process.

Start>Run>cmd
sfc /scannow

Have you tried (or did you try) ever installing version 10?
