Windows 98se problema

got win98 on my fathers pc,no virus's on pc(ran latest version of stinger),got NAV2003 installed & nav firewall,ran adware and window washer,when the pc starts theres a dos box saying its loading Match or Matchli then pc works ok
for approx 20 seconds then nothing will open it just sits there trying to open whatever application.....Any ideas people cause i cant find anything.Works ok in safemode,checked msconfig nothing unusual in there.Help

If it is hanging how about configuring your swap file and rebooting and try that.

Does the DOS box appear after Windows has booted? If so, check the start-up portion of the registry (maybe msconfig missed something). In 98 (run regedt32.exe I think), I believe it's the same as XP, which is HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\.

If you want to check the autoexec, start Notepad and open C:\autoexec.bat. Look for any lines that refer to whatever's opening. For example, you might find C:\Windows\Match.exe or C:\Progra~1\<something>\matchli.com or any entry that appears related to whatever's causing that DOS box.
