Windows 7 RTM corrupt download

I have now downloaded the Windows 7 RTM from the MS site three times, none of which has resulted in any file that can be recognised being placed on my PC.

The download is very large and takes about 30 min. It downloads no problem but then after its done the message “fatal error” is displayed in the download manager and no file of this size (or in fact any size) can be found on my PC.

Re-starting the download manager results in the exact same problem again, and again and again.

Anyone else had similar problems?

What site are you trying to get it from Dave?
Not sure if MS have posted it anywhere just yet.

I recommend you use a torrent then. Just verify the hashes. :D

I don't know if that is an official way to get the RTM.
May have been OK for the beta and RC since they were public but now we are talking about the final which you need to purchase.

You're right, it's not the official way. I didn't download it either and will be purchasing it once it comes out.

If indeed legit, I would try without any "download manager" as they can often times mess things up.

Like Xie said. There are some files that you can not use a download manager for.

Also, when did they put RTM on technet? I looked all over the site and can not find it .

Next week i believe

It won't be on Technet/MSDN/Connect until the 6th.

Yeah, as a matter of fact, the download site TELLS you that you can either use MS's download manager, or just use your web browser to download it. So I would advise just using your web browser. I had no problems doing it either way,(and saving it to a network share).

The download was from a link (from an email from Microsoft) dated 27/07/2009.

I can verify that it’s an official download of the RTM version of Windows 7 available to beta testers.

I have emailed Microsoft but have not yet received any reply.

I will now try it again without the use of Microsoft’s download manager and post the result.

Thanks for the replies, will keep you updated.

:)

There is no option to use anything other than the download manager supplied (it cant be chaned to anything else).

The file (7100.0.090421-1700_x86fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culfrer_en_dvd.iso) is now downloading, its 2.36 gig (10% done).

I now have more keys to Windows 7 RTM than mony in the bank.

I'll bet it fails again.

:suprised:

Sadly 7100 is the release candidate, with 7600 being the RTM version, I think it expires in March next year though so you do have some time to check it out, I doubt it will be supported though.

You could try forcing the manager to download again.

Go into internet options > setting > view objects and remove the DLM Control.

The file 7100.0.090421-1700_x86fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culfrer_en_dvd.iso.dlm downloaded but it's corrupt.

What next?

Ive already got the release canditate and have had for some time, I think the link is wrong, checking with Microsoft...

7100 is the RC not RTM .. I got the same email ...

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
