almost all of my ports are open, i have the cable modem plugged into my dual NIC, and and the RRAS using NAT to share out the connection to the rest of the network... how do i protect the server w/o 3rd party software?

At least get yourself a router/firewall to provide some level of protection.

my windows 2000 server is the router, I dont want any hardware firewalls.. everything should be able to be secure with the tools win2k offers... but I dont know how, thats why I am asking.

There is no way to secure Windows without 3rd party hardware or software and still allow some sort of access to it. At the very least get yourself a $50 router to give some sort of protection.

I have a router, but its DHCP interferes with the domain controllers DHCP service.....

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
