Windows 2000 Pro/Server/XP and CDR!!

I am an avid user of windows operating systems. I like windows xp but I find that windows 2000 pro/server works a lot faster and better for me then XP. The only reason that I don't use it is because my CDR which is a 32X TDK burns very slow in windows 2000 about 9 min, and in Windows Xp it burns @ 3 min 30 seconds. Can anyone please tell me why this is ?
