win98se ASPI layer

Hi,

I had a problem with win98se, every time I tried to burn a CD, nero crashed, so I updated the ASPI layer and now I can burn Cds but can't read them, neither any other disc, The burned disc are ok, cause they can be read in winXP perfectly.

Any ideas?

as far as I know the ASPI drivers are for nt OS's.

I thought that too, but nero said the system ASPI was corrupted. This is the version I installed

How in thunder (bird)! ASPI layers are only required in NT so it seems like it reversed the functions of the drive

Yes, it reversed the problem, I will install older version of the layer to see what happens.

Nero installs it's own aspi layer ,,, and like stated above they are only used for ntfs .. it was either a bad install or the pc don't like it .. did you try uninstalling it , dumping the aspi layer you installed and then reinstalling nero ?? also win 98 has it's own aspi layer in it as well so installing that one probably killed it ..

also what version of nero is it ??

I'm using nero 6.

I installed an older version of the adaptec aspi layer and now everything works fine.
