Will PIII750 cpu fan work with Duron950?

I have a CPUfan/heatsink that I had been using to keep a PIII750mhz fc-pga chip cool and operating well.

I have a new system running a socket a duron 950 and haven't gotten a cpu fan/heatsink for it yet.

Just wondering if it's possible that the one I used to keep my PIII cool might be able to do the job for my Duron.

I know AMDs tend to run hotter than Intels, but I figure it's a PIII fan not a Celeron one so it might be made to cool more.

I don't know who made the PIII cpufan so I know it's a pretty general question, but anyone have an idea?

thanks

I think the clips that keep the fan connected to the mobo are different for a Pentium, so it may not physically fit onto the mobo.

FC-PGA heatsinks are compatible with Socket A so you will be able to use that heatsink/fan. The problem might come with temps though, the p3 ran fairly cool, just watch your temps in your bios after you boot just to be sure.

it'll work. just be sure you do a good job of cleaning it and put some thermal compound on it. if the p3 ran cool, the duron should be okay. just keep tabs on it for the first day and make sure.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
