there's nothing wrong with emachines, there great value for mpney, i'm just not sure they last the long term, anyhow will look foward to getting mine in it's sexy color, will upload pics etc when i get it (sunday i hope)

Hehe, I've seen laptops that have lasted ages. True, they did become obsolete in no time, but they worked just fine.

a 386 laptop will run fine. It just wont run XP 🙂 depends on your definition and perspective of lasting 🙂

386 was ages ago. I doubt Henyman is planning on keeping the laptop for that long. The Pentium III age on the other hand, is a more realistic estimate...that was from about 2-3 years ago, and should be pretty much how long you should expect to keep a laptop (considering their high costs in comparison to desktops). And PIII machines can run XP perfectly well.

yeah i installed 2k on a laptop with 32mb ram + like a 233 processor.

Emachine owned by Gateway now so. Emachines are crap man always have. Like I said Toshiba Toshiba Toshiba.

linksys wag-54g adsl modem + wireless router arived to day along with a wireless g notebook adapter 😉 special deal on boradbandbuyer.co.uk ment i got both for under £150 with next day delivary 😀 router wasn't toooo bad to setup, needed a few restarts + a firmware update though 😛

i hope money clears soon.............. 🙁

x86 based laptops, like marge said, they go "out of date" very quickly.

if you are willing to pay ~1300 then screw the P4 and get yourself a iBook G4 😀
