Which is best ?

Hi all,

I had a PIII with GF2 and a sound blaster live 1024 sound card. I recently upgraded to a Athlon XP 2100 + Chaintech mobo. The mobo has on-board sound (C-Media CMI8738 ??). Which is best, the on board sound or the older sound blaster live 1024. The C-media has 6 channel support whereas the sound blaster has 4. However, as I only have 2 speakers at the moment that is not an issue.

I was more concerned about sound quality and which would put the greater load on the CPU.

I guess its time to start saving for a new graphics card.

Cheers.

I have the same sound (C-Media CMI8738) but instead, it's an actual soundcard. The quality is all right, but I haven't the equipment or knowledge to test the quality thoroughly.
IMO, I would stick with the Sound Blaster Live, because the C-Media card can be picked up for $20AUD at my local computer market, suggesting poor quality. ;)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
