Now that Jv16 Power Tools is no longer getting free updates, which is the best free Registry Cleaner at the moment?

jv16 Powertools v1.3 & RegScrubXP

another free popular one out there (havent tried) is RegFixer

I use system Mechanic Pro V4c, well it free till it expires after 30 days.

Probably not relevant so Jv16 regcleaner.

I found one better than any of the ones listed - It's called RegSupreme, it's not free but it finds things regcleaner, jv16, and system machanic don't. I installed it ran all three of the said mentioned apps above, then ran regsupreme, it found 728 files that the others did'nt - I found things I uninstalled 6 months ago .. it is a nice little prog .

But are all 728 files completely safe to remove?
Yip . It has discriptions of each reference and has an auto clean feature that will not delete valuable info .... Also if it's something that you are unsure of you just don't have to check it to be removed .. I have'nt had a prob with it yet ...

RegSupreme is the new, updated commercial version of the original RegCleaner from jv16.org, in case you didn't know. :)

Can someone please explain to me what registry cleaners are good for?

Other than encrease the traffic in computer forums?

"Which is the best registry cleaner?"
and
"Lost all my icons in administrative tools", "Help and Support does not work", ...... ;)

Do you really think those 700 invalid links in the registry, mostly in MRU lists, do matter? Compare it to the total size of the registry.

It's not called paranoia - it's called when you uninstall certain apps they don't get everything out from the registry, and when you go to install another app of the same type of things it conflicts and kills your pc ... A lot of what I found with this prog is that it finds references to things that were uninstalled and such , so it is affective to me ,, plus with all the clutter in your registry it will start to slow the pc down and affect the performance over all .

Very much doubt it really improves performance - ever seen anyone with before and after benchmarks? Guess not.

I'm talking as far as spittering and spattering and such ..

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
