There's an AMD64 club... And an X2 club?
What about the opteron club?
Not enough of a following maybe? But, you may have just started a thread, perhaps others will follow suit
Hopefully. Opterons are gaining popularity because of the fact that they are FX series processors that just missed a few tests.
Opterons are effectively A64's, single, dual or if you are really rich, you can have a 2 way, 4 way or 8 way setup
There is a single core and dual-core setup and I don't recall too many people with a sckt 940 setup.
I'll probably sticky a thread pretty soon which encompasses all this stuff
didnt AMD stop making them though??
dual opertons I am speaking of....
I am just seeing a trend on other sites of people using Opterons. Much like myself, I prefer them over the X2's and single cores.
The assumption is the opterons are tested better, more strenuosly therefore they make better oc'ers.
There is nothing to really support that though
The proc is essentially the same.
Post your cpu-id in the dual core thread to compare.
Nope, they had a shortage due to to demand or something, they are still making them.
why was AMD tight lipped about a shortage?
That makes no sense...
They announced a shortage on a lot of chips recently. I'm glad I got my Opteron. It's VERY fast, and runs very cool. I can't wait to overclock it a bit.
AMD64 includes Athlon64, Opertron, Sempron64, Athlon64 FX....
