What should you use as your domain name (zone name) for dns, if you dont actually own a public domain name? are there any reserved private domains, like there are for ip addresses(ex 192.x.x.x)? Im just setting up a server to play around with and im at a loss for what to use.

i found this http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2606.html

but im not sure if these domains are only for documentation purposes, or if they are actual functional addresses, within a private network, just not routable.

Yeah, you can pretty much put what you like if it is private.

I used to use something like .local, now I use .streetname

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
