What to Choose ? 801.11b or 801.11g

I have 3 pcs that i want to connect to the internet and i am planning to buy a wireless router. i can see that there are 2 major types - the 801.11b and the 801.11g. i know that the speed is different but is it significant? i have comcast cable, 2 pcs (1) xp pro, 512ddrram, 60Gig, 1.6Ghz and (2) win2000, 200Mhz, 88ram, 6Gig. If i buy the 801.11g, will the pci wireless card that works for the "b" also work for the "g" ?

802.11g ... 54megs per sec and it is backwards compatable. ...
