I'm trying to configure XP to have the least amount of things running in the background. I see there are some "essential" services I need running, but what else can I turn off to make my system a "Game God"....
The list seems endless. I've experimented to a certain extent, but what has to be remembered is that there are services that the system depends on. If you open the Services window, from the Admin tools menu, all of the services have a brief description. The only advice I dare offer is that if any service appears unneccesary then try ditching it. This is potentially fatal so i'd be inclined to keep a working drive image very handy.
I've slimmed mine down drastically, but to be quite honest there are times it seems to make no difference to speed and efficiency at all.
Any techies out there with good info?????? I'd like to know as well.
gothic this link http://www.blkviper.com/index.htmlwill gives you very radical ideas, so back up before you listen to this viper guy, and if Allan can fix his link, DEFINATELY start there
Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
