I wouldn't call the FX 5800 the best bang for the buck. Second, ATI cards are better right now.

there are 2 majour problems with ati.

there is NO gl hardware support
and activision and some ea games dont like ati cards

and yea there is a third one too, i do open GL 1.5 rendering with my computer so it is better for that. and all the games i play are open GL and also i use linux a whole lot and ATI cards suck in linux, plus i like open GL so yea mainly Nvidia or XGI or #dlabs but i cant go over 590$ canadian

For what this is worth, and assuming you haven't seen it. OPENGL "workstation" vid card benchmarks:
http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/20030916/index.html

And for the PC vid card comparisons:
http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/20031229/index.html

Unfortunately I did not see any opengl benchmarks in the list they ran. It is mostly a DX comparison. They used to throw in some opengl based games/benchmarks too.

And ATI's last 2 drivers 3.10 and 4.1 have significantly enhanced their opengl support. I can now play HW2 with no quirks.

No OpenGL hardware support? the 9600, 9800, 9700, (9500?) have OpenGL 2.0 support

i i am pretty sure that is it software driven which is not what i am looking for. but yea no matter what the argument is i am looking for Nvidia, or Xgi or a good 3d labs card but under 590$ canadian

5900 non ultra is under $180 -- its definitely the best bang for the buck considering it can clock into a 5950 ULTRA!

where u get the 5900? and the few places i looked before they were 600 but i am getting prices today from my boss so possably who is yours made by

gainward are certainly a good manufacturer of graphics cards

asus also makes good solutions... if you want to try them... might be a bit pricey though...

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
