I ught a trust 380 usb webcam which is suppose to be a good one but the images are grainy and seem to lack colour any ideas

What app are you using to obtain images? resolution? Compression? Video format?

Web-cam images were never intended to be great, and unless you pay £70+ for your cam, they'll always be a bit grainy. Also most cams need a LOT of light to work in, low light (even that of a bulb/lamp lit room isnt enough for some cams) the image quality will be poor.

OK :)

Start with, What application are you using to obtain the image from the web-cam ? .. this shouldn't matter as such, as applications don't really affect the image quality, but different apps will use different settings.

That would probably be why then. MSN uses a heavily compressed image at a small resolution to save bandwidth.

if you want good picture quality then you need to use a camcorder either Hi8 or Mini DV the give excellent quality.

Is there plenty of light? webcams don't work well in dark places. My old cam never used to work in anything but daylight.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
