hi. does anyone know how i can setup my web cam to take pics and update a picture on a website every so often so its kind of a live thing?

You could try the Timershot webcam PowerToy from MS.

timershot never worked for me either :|
i've only recently started using Conquer cam its probably the app i've stayed with the longest, others i've used are -
Webcam2000
Pryme
KabCam
WebcamXP (Damned nice app!)
BiromSoft Webcam
CoffeeCup webcam
and various other tripe, but conquer cam is definately the best yet
