I disabled it on install of my current XP build in October 2002. but that's just me.

I second that Fitz. It's invaluable. I even use it on my cell to settle arguements when I'm out and about w/ friends. heheh

Just for laughs. My volume icon has been awol for a couple months. I installed the new ATI Catalyst and AIW drivers and all my icons came back for about an hour and several reboots. Then I updated some codecs and they were gone again.

Sigh. I give up!!!!

Update:
I didn't give up. I tried the fix in mastershakes link - hide upnp devices ICON on the my network right side menu. It seems to be working. Also, IE is now loading in medium font. It was always resetting itself to small font after each reboot.

Strange.
