I'm thinking about getting one of these programs for doing assignments for school. Should I buy VC++6 or go ahead and get .NET? I won't be needing Visual Basic, C#, or anything else from .NET, just for C++.
How much is the price difference? Have you looked into academic discounts?
I would say go for VS .NET if it isn't too much more, since you might feel you want to learn one of the .NET languages somewhere down the line.
Moreover, the debugger in VS .NET is a lot better than the one in VS 6.0, and it can be a god-send when working on large projects with multiple classes and files.
Don't know the price difference as I did not look up the prices at school yet (I was going to buy it at the school bookstore.) But you make .NET sounds alot better, so I'm leaning towards .NET right now. 🙂
Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
