Vista SP1 is HERE

Downloaded it. Burnt it to CD. Installed in on two machines already. FYI before you start, it does say that the installation could take an hour or more. One machine took and hour and a half and another took and hour and 15 minutes. Best thing to do is start the installation and walk away.

it will install a few updates and reboot 2-3 times, you are better off getting the sp1 iso and doing a fresh install

I can't install it coz I've got language pack on top on english vista... :dead:

Q: Why does SP1 takes 4 times as long to install as Vista itself.

A: Because the SP1 install has to run on Vista.

hahah, nice one

and yeah, i think everyone should follow carpo's advice and get the streamlined iso, installing service packs is always a drag

I used the download, it installed in less then 45 minutes, the install was smooth as ice, I didn't want to reinstall the entire os since I have installed programs I don't want to track down

usually after an sp you need a defrag and I did not do one but this computer is definately faster, quite a bit I might add, everything has snap

am liking vista more and more

Yes so far big improvement on RC1
45 Minutes x 2 for download and installation.
No multiple lock ups soon after....as previous versions, and can access Search from keyboard buttons "windows" / "F"

Yeah mine's a fresh install, really snappy. Runs like lightning now I've sorted my BIOS/RAM issue out :)

Most of the work I do on Vista at the moment is on an enterprise level and very little is relevent for home users

SP1 SP1 SP1...my only problem is I have it dual booting with Ubuntu so I dont believe I will be able to do a fresh install. I will see when I get home and update you guys.

You can reinstall Windows. You will just have to reinstall grub after it since it will blow away the bootloader.

i think i may finally cave and buy vista home premium x64.

anyone know when will sp1 versions be in stores? i know i could slipstream the original, but at this point i might as well wait.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
