can u increase virtual ram i tried increasing the pagefile.. but that didnt work

Yes you can, there are lots of programmes out there that can create RAM drives of any size as long as you have the RAM to take from.

I'm wondering what you're trying to do, so if my response doesn't help, let me know;

if you leave your page file to the default..(which has been demonstrated to be the correct setting...do not set the page file to a static value)...the virtuall memory will be managed by xp, and it will increase as needed...trying to manage any memory in xp appears to be counter productive, and it will harm performance
