Ok here goes... I have been having problems with my browsers.. all of them. Netscape, Explorer, Opera. I might go on yahoo, and go to the "Classifieds" section and I get this notice on the browser window.

The page cannot be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please try the following:

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

Open the rd.yahoo.com home page, and then look for links to the information you want.
Click the Back button to try another link.
HTTP 404 - File not found

Ok but if I do a "View Source" it reads all of this..

DocURL = document.URL;

//this is where the http or https will be, as found by searching for :// but skipping the res://

serverIndex=DocURL.indexOf("/",protocolIndex + 3);

I am having the same problem. I did not use tweak. Also having a problem with my Yahoo email account where the random number at the end of the URL keeps regenerating and when I stop it, it still does not let me check my emails. What's the deal?

I think that yahoo was having problems yesterday with that server. Seems like they are still having problems with it today.

This has been going on with my computer for the past 2 months.. it was something I downloaded..

I just have to fild the file, and where it's in and get rid of the block.. At least that's what I think.. I'm not sure, there are much better computer guys then me on here :) If anyone knows my delima, please help.. It's driving me mad..

I'm also getting this password sign that comes up everytime "Connecting to ads.x10.com" What is that, and how do I get rid of that too?

Sorry about all the questions everyone..

Cheers
Mike

Would cookies do it?, and if I'm in the reg, what would I look for?

Thanks
Mike

If I'm on Yahho.com and I hit the classifides link, this is what the link itself says. "http://rd.yahoo.com/O=1/home/trough/class/*http://classifieds.yahoo.com". Maybe someone can desipher it..
And many other pages like it do the same thing..

Mike

I had a similiar problem with Yahoo. Turns out there was a pre-installed piece of software called Freedom that was messing things up. I believe some sort of firewall or monitor or filter. I removed Freedom and everything is working fine now.

You can edit your host file and remove all the yahoo stuff in there. Just edit it with notepad. Then do edit, find, type in yahoo then click find. Erase what it finds. Keep clicking find next erasing each one till it says cannot find yahoo. Save the file afterwards. You'll find around 25-30 references to yahoo in most host files, rd.yahoo.com being one of them. In case you don't know the host file is under c:\windows\system32\drivers\ect

Also make sure you erase the whole line, not just the word yahoo.

127.0.0.1 rd.yahoo.com

You would erase that whole line.

Oh my god... It worked... I did exactly what you said to do.... I don't know how to thank you, but if you need anything software or whatnot.. let me know... Thanks a million.. maz@redshift.com

Cheers
Mike

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
