All of sudden my XP Pro got very slow without installing any new software or changing any system settings!
When I realized that the system is very slow I open “Task Manager” and I found that the item System is using 99% of the CPU Speed and full CPU time. So I started to look what will cause the System to take 99% of my CPU speed.
I started by running adaware and updated antivirus to check if my system got a spyware or a virus that use most of my CPU speed and no luck.
Then I started to uninstall useless software and do a system cleanup with Windows Mechanic… But no luck
I run msconfig.exe to Disable Load Startup Items… But no luck.
Then I run it again and Disabled Load System Services... and it works! But Windows is useless without the System Services... so I started by Disabling non-Microsoft Services and that didn’t work. So I started to disable Microsoft services one-by-one until I found that if I disable the Plug and Play Service the system became fast again.
So I looked what services that depend on the Plug and Play service and I enabled the Plug and Play service and disable the services that depend on the Plug and Play service and no luck!
So I reinstalled my XP Pro using the upgrade option not fresh installation… But no luck!
I updated my windows system files from the windows update website and restarted… but no lock…
Is there any solution to this problem other than doing a Fresh installation of Windows XP Pro?
I can’t use the system restore because I think after reinstalling windows XP I lost the previous restore points
Please help me with this…
