v-sync

Let me get this right

No matter what system you have like a "Geforce 6 ti 10000"
but you have set your monitor in 85Hz and enable v-sync your fps will always be 85?
So why someone should enable the v-sync?

On the other hand I think that even with my GF4 ti 4600 Jedi knight 2 looks better with v-sync enabled or Am I wrong?

hey yeah i c ur point... i'm not rly 2 clear on v-sync, n e 1 know what its *realy* for?

V-Sync (Verticle Sync) Basically means that your monitor will sync the frames to the verticle refresh. If you had a powerful enough video board V-sync is a good thing, cause your vid board is still throwing all the frames it can at the monitor so ideally if you had the power you could get a constant 85fps with most monitors (the human eye can only see 60 so thats great)

The reason some games look better with v-sync on is because if you are getting large spikes into high framerates you are gonna get image tearing and sometimes graphical banding due to the extreme amt of frames being displayed.

an example is I have a geforce 4 TI 4400 oc'ed past 4600 lvls. and when I play Tony Hawk on my comp if I play at any resolution below 1280 by 1024 with v-sync off I get image tearing when doing quick spins and such. or I can just turn v-sync on and everything is peachy keen. Hope that helps.

thx :) yeah, i'll look into it with my card - would it improve the performance of a Riva TnT2 Ultra ?

that surely helps Qumahlin

thanks a lot

which setting do you think is best in nvidia cards the setting best image quality or blend?
I am talking for a GF4 ti 4600

um if you don't have everything set to best quality...and you have a geforce 4 4600...thats kinda like buying a ferrari and never going above the speed limit :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
